- All cushions and pillows should be reversed and rotated
on a regular basis. This keeps the filling evenly distributed
for maximum comfort. It also, helps guard against wear
and tear of the fabric.
- To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light
brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.
- Manufacturers do not guarantee fabrics for durability
or color fastness. Protect upholstery from direct sunlight.
- All fabrics have cleaning codes. However, due to the
wide range of fibers used today, it is impossible to publish
cleaning instructions for all fabrics. Therefore, we are
only publishing the most widely known codes as a source
of information. Priba cannot endorse any particular product
or cleaning method for fabric.
- Cleaning Code S – Spot clean, using a mild waterfree
solvent or dry cleaning product. Clean only in a well
ventilated room and avoid any product containing Carbon
Tetrachloride or other toxic materials. Pretest a small
area before proceeding. Cleaning by a professional furniture
cleaning service only is recommended.
- Cleaning Code W – Spot clean, using the foam only
from a water-based cleaning agent such as a mild detergent
or non-solvent upholstery shampoo product. Apply foam
with a soft brush in a circular motion. Vacuum when dry.
Pretest a small area before proceeding. Use a professional
furniture cleaning service when an overall soiled condition
has been reached.
- Upholstery should comply with all Upholstered Furniture
Action Council (UFAC) criteria established to reduce,
but not necessarily eliminate, ignition of fabric and
filling by a burning cigarette.
- Leather upholstery – Dust regularly with a clean
dust cloth. Do not use furniture polish, oils, varnishes,
ammonia water, soaps, or dusting agents.
- Should a liquid spill occur, blot the area immediately
with a clean, absorbent cloth or sponge. Most liquids
are initially repelled by leather, but may become absorbed
into the material if left standing for any length of time.
For removing sticky spills, gently wipe the area with
clear, lukewarm water and a sponge. If necessary, mild
soap suds may be added. For pure aniline leather, use
warm water only and allow the material to dry naturally
between applications. Nutregena soap and distilled water
are often recommended. As with any natural product, responding
to the stain as quickly as possible will yield the optimum
results.
- Use with caution any fabric treatment that is applied
after the upholstery has been manufactured. Usage on fabrics
that have already been treated or on fabrics which rely
on a latex or other backing for stability may cause seam
slippage. Manufacturers will not assume any responsibility
for fabric that has been treated after the item has been
manufactured.
